BSMT Gallery will be kickstarting the year with a wonderfully vibrant and unapologetically uplifting group exhibition HAPPY PLACE opening at the end of February. It brings together artists working across print, text-based media, and vibrant colour, exploring how positive language can actively shape how we feel, think, and connect when amplified through colour, typography, and humour.

This isn’t toxic positivity. It’s intentional optimism.

Developed in response to the winter months- when the days are short, the skies are grey, and the energy dips- the exhibition grew from a shared craving for warmth, brightness, and those small jolts of joy that cut through the monotony. When the outside world lacks sunlight, how do we generate our own?

Through bold palettes, punchy slogans, graphic interventions, and playful subversion, the artists in ‘Happy Place' create works that broadcast reassurance. Loudly! With colour. With conviction. 

​Across the exhibition positivity is explored as an act of resilience, self care, humour and rebellion, choosing to be optimistic in the face of a culture that feeds on outrage. In a time when daily life feels fast, uncertain, and emotionally charged, 'Happy Place' asks what it means to deliberately carve out space for encouragement and emotional lift- even if it’s fleeting. Even if it’s just for a moment.

Because sometimes stepping into a room filled with colour, affirmation, and shared energy is enough to reset the system.​ We invite visitors to step inside, let the wave of positivity wash over them, and walk back out a little lighter, a little more clear-headed, recharged, and ready to face the noise again.
