SOLO SHOW BY CRANIO

MONEY

This August, BSMT Gallery will welcome back Brazilian street artist Cranio whose signature blend of humour, colour and critique is as sharp as ever in his witty new solo exhibition entitled ‘MONEY’.

From gold chains and branded paraphernalia to surreal consumerist rituals, the works expose the cultural contradictions of modern capitalism. The show reads like a satire of spiritual erosion in the face of excess - rendered with Cranio’s usual visual punch and narrative wit.

“I created the blue Indian as a way to reflect on our contradictions,” says Cranio... “He loses touch with his values. He’s distracted, corrupted, and sometimes even ridiculous - but that’s exactly the point.”

The exhibition will feature a large body of new small-format, hand-painted works, alongside several large-scale statement pieces. At the centre of these works is Cranio’s unmistakable blue character- a symbol of Brazil’s Indigenous heritage and a mischievous observer of contemporary life. In ‘MONEY’, these figures become distorted by greed, seduced by luxury, and trapped in absurd depictions of wealth.
