Mysterious Al is an artist making dangerous paintings for dangerous people. He rose to fame in the early 2000’s through the explosion of street art, developing a notoriety for his wall paintings, paste-ups and street installations alongside his contemporaries D*face, Banksy and Shantell Martin.

“Working as an Artist on the street, you come across some funny situations. Dangerous places, dodgy people and a lot of criminal trespassing. Nowadays my work is bright, colourful and fun, but it has a dark past. I like to reference this darkness in a fun and colourful way. Like a kids book on drug-dealing."

 

Al’s artistic practice works outside of the traditional gallery model, producing blockbuster exhibitions in unusual locations like abandoned warehouses, disused shopfronts and even a funfair ghost train. He has partnered with some of the world's biggest brands including Adidas, Tommy Hilfiger, Levis and Yahoo! on various co-branded projects.
