SOLO SHOW BY DAVE BUONAGUIDI
AKA REAL HACKNEY DAVE
OCT 1ST - OCT 11TH 2020
WORD ON THE STREET
If you’ve found yourself chuckling at the curious ‘Nancy, your dog has fleas’ or ‘Ben, see you next Tuesday’ or maybe even ‘Any idea where we are yet?’- there’s no doubt you’d have stumbled across the glued-up, fluro pink ‘in-jokes’ and first street pieces of Real Hackney Dave and were maybe even left with the compulsion to write a few of your own.

Dave Buonaguidi AKA Real Hackney Dave finally sacked off his 35 year career in advertising to become a full-time artist. Well known for his screen printed, bold, pink and red typographic style, 'WORD ON THE STREET’ will be Dave’s first solo show with BSMT. He has put together a large collection of unique, one-off pieces for the exhibition combining found, textured materials with his trademark bright pink and 3D lettering.

“I am fascinated by words and language and I always try to create an interesting and unique connection with people through my art. These three dimensional pieces are smaller and more manageable versions of the street art that I stick to buildings and walls out on the street and are inspired by a very personal message that I once saw on a motorway bridge that read, Come Back Kazza, I love You. This extremely personal and emotional message was only meant for one person, but was displayed in public and I find that really interesting.”
