A PATH THROUGH THE HAZE

SOLO EXHIBITION BY ERMSY

30TH JULY - 16TH AUGUST

A PATH THROUGH THE HAZE

A Path Through the Haze explores the space between memory, imagination and personal mythology through a new body of work by Paris-based artist Ermsy.

Opening on 30 July and running until 16 August, the exhibition presents a series of paintings that expand Ermsy’s distinctive visual language, bringing together recurring characters, symbolic motifs and dreamlike landscapes in compositions that blur the boundaries between memory and invention.

In a world where images are consumed, shared and forgotten at unprecedented speed, Ermsy’s paintings invite a slower way of looking. Drawing from cartoons, comics and popular culture, he reassembles familiar imagery into surreal, emotionally charged compositions that feel both recognisable and entirely new.

Across the exhibition, exaggerated sports cars, cosmic symbols and enigmatic figures drift through expansive fields of colour, creating scenes suspended between reality and dream. Humour and uncertainty coexist as familiar forms dissolve into imagined worlds, leaving space for each viewer to create their own connections and interpretations.

The exhibition’s title reflects this movement through uncertainty. A haze obscures as much as it reveals, softening the boundaries between memory, fiction and lived experience. Like recollections reshaped over time, the works move between clarity and ambiguity, allowing new meanings to emerge through association rather than explanation.

'A Path Through The Haze' opens with a private view at 6pm on Thursday July 30th at BSMT Gallery, Dalston.
