BSMT SPACE hosts the best in current Urban Contemporary Art. Situated in the heart of Dalston we continually work towards maintaining a space that connects people, ideas and projects together, a gallery space galvanised!
Born out of a disused black basement, the gallery has evolved over the past four years to gain a reputation as a platform to showcase some of the finest UK-based and global artists. Having relocated to a brand new space our goals as a gallery remain the same: the support and development of emerging and established artists, to use the gallery to support causes we believe in and to allow the gallery to be a place to create as well as to exhibit. We produce authentic exhibitions showcasing people and ideas at their best.
We have worked towards maintaining a unique attitude towards the Art world without undermining our professionalism, a collaborative and unique gallery- if you know about Urban Art you’ll know about BSMT Space.
CLIMATE CHANGE TALKS SCHEDULE
1. Heading for Extinction and what to do about it, followed by a Regenerative Culture Workshop.
How did Extinction Rebellion start, what is their mission and what is motivating them to act through radical non-violent protest? This session will cover and answer some of these areas, and present much of the most recent data on the climate crisis, much of which you won’t easily find in the mainstream media.
The talk will be followed by an introductory workshop in regenerative culture, which will discuss and provide some of the tools and approaches one can use to maintain one’s physical and psychological well-being in the face climate catastrophe. A specialist in this field from Extinction Rebellion will lead the workshop.
Time: The talk is at 6pm on Wednesday 18th September
2. Is the climate crisis simply too complex for any solution? There is a simpler way to look at the crisis and it points to a profound and far reaching solution!
Many thanks to Wolfpack Brewery who will be sponsoring the free beer for this event
There are many reasons why we are failing to rise to the challenge of the climate crisis, and the issues and solutions we hear on the news do not go to the core of the problem. You may be surprised to know that it is not only the obvious “bad guys” who are stopping us from taking the action we need to keep our home planet safe, protect our livelihoods and the people we care about. This talk outlines simple ideas that can deliver the massive transformation needed to impact the climate crisis. Enabling all people to work towards what is an obvious shared goal, and creating opportunities for everyone. The talk will outline why these ideas need to start with a Global New Deal.
Time: The talk is at 6pm on Thursday 19th September
3. How did Extinction Rebellion start, what is their mission and what is motivating them to act through radical non-violent protest?
This session will cover and answer some of these areas, and present much of the most recent data on the climate crisis, much of which you won’t easily find in the mainstream media. The talk will be followed by a printing and creative workshop, bring along clothes (2nd hand) that you would like to emblazon with Extinction Rebellion motifs and creative designs developed by the rebellion. There will also be an opportunity to meet and speak to some of those working to raise awareness and demand real action on the climate crisis.
Time: The talk is at 6pm on Wednesday 25th September
